“Librarians’ Vision for Georgia’s ‘Library of the 21st Century” was the presentation at the COMO XXI 2009

Ms. Hall-McDowell was joined by an impressive panel at the 2009 Georgia Council of Media Organizations Convention on October 8th on the
“Librarians’ Vision for Georgia’s ‘Libraries of the 21st Century”

The panel was represented by Michael Ross, Shai Robkin, Mick Galifianakis and Frederick McDowell.

Michael Ross, AIA, Leed AP is a principle with Ross Barney Architects, a Chicago firm dedicated to integrating sustainability. Michael has degrees in architectural studies and engineering management and is a retired Air Force Officer. He shared photos and information of a several recent projects, all Leed certified. These included some very note worth library work.

Shai Robkin, President and CEO of Integrated technology Group spoke on the direction and importance of the developments of material flow management technology solutions for the library industry. Shai co-authored the first book on Library RFID technology entitled, Radio Frequency Identification Handbook for Librarians, published by Libraries Unlimited in March, 2007.

Mike Galifianakis is the ADA Coordination for the Georgia State Financing & Investment Commission. He is responsible for developing and implementing programs and activities to advance and monitor agency compliance with the ADA statewide. Amoung other prosistions, Mike has been an Assistant Attorney General for the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity and worked as an agent for the GBI. His law degree is form Georgia State University.

Frederick McDowell is the Vice president with McDowell/Hall-McDowell. He has a life time of expericence with the construction Inductry and has spent his senior carrier with GFSIC as a Mamager in theConstruction Division. He was instrumental in rewriting the State’s Construction Inspection Procedures after years of excelling in the supervision and oversight of the Construction Complaints Department.

Ms. Hall-McDowell’s short presentation was followed by this panel discussion where conference participants shared. Everyone left with a positive and deepened insight for their “Library of the Future”.
